The regular 14th Street Wednesday meetings of Taco Bell Drawing Club will resume next week with a bang! There was an outstanding meeting in Pacifica on Friday of this past week. Things that were drawn: faces, coffee cups, burritos, and tacos. Things that were thought about: pie.

There was an IMPROMPTU!! meeting of Taco Bell Drawing Club yesterday!

I just received the following in an email from Taco Bell Drawing Club Gold Card Member Nicholas Vandermolen. The date of the meeting is also the birthday of another gold card member of the club!!

Rumors have been circulating and yes, they are true....TACO BELL DRAWING CLUB is coming to Chicago.

This is no one time thing, but a weekly gathering of any and all minds to sit, draw and/or eat taco bell.

Sadly this will be the last meeting of the year. Because of the holidays, we will reconvene Taco Bell Drawing Club sometime in January...so i guess maybe this is a one time thing for the year 2008. Get ready to TBDC in 2009.

Hello! This week I will not be at Taco Bell during usual Taco Bell Drawing Club times. I will be drawing with Jane Mount, and hope you will come draw too, at Jen Bekman Gallery. Do you know about this?! I heard through the grapevine that there may be some special appearances by official Taco Bell Drawing Club members! Come see them draw! Come draw with them!

There is a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 7, on 14th Street from 4-5:30p.

There is an art show opening this Friday that the Taco Bell Drawing Club is heavily represented in! It is at Cinders Gallery and has a lot of good art in it. If you cannot make the opening stop by the gallery sometime soon to see the show and look at the magazines and books and things that are at Cinders. They have a lot of good things to look at.

There will be a special meeting (or six) at Taco Bell in Michigan this week. There may also be a meeting in Indiana and a meeting in Illinois. If you are in any of these states please email art @jasonpolan.com if you would like specifics on meeting times and places (Taco Bell). I will not be at the meeting on 14th Street in New York this week. This obviously does not mean that the meeting should not take place.

I am having trouble uploading a picture to put with this text. Let's imagine one instead. Do you have one in mind? If you do you can stop reading. If you are having a little trouble coming up with something maybe think about the last time you ran really fast. Where were you? Do you remember the biggest meal you have ever eaten? Who was the last new person you met? Were they wearing a coat? Was it cold outside? Who is the tallest person you have ever seen?

I tried to take a picture of some of the drawings from this week's Wednesday meeting but they were so incredible my camera exploded.

Chattanooga!!

There is a new chapter of Taco Bell Drawing Club in Chattanooga. I think that is in Tennessee!

The guy in the back right of the picture was sitting at the booth by himself when the members of Taco Bell Drawing Club came and started drawing all around him. They thought that he looked like a perfect candidate for the club. As they all enjoyed their seven layer burritos and crunchwrap supremes and then got into their drawings he just sat there with his arms crossed. After this picture was taken one of the members offered him a piece of paper and some markers. He was reluctant at first but then accepted the supplies. He started drawing and continued, without looking up, for the following three and a half hours. He made the second best piece of art drawn at any meeting of Taco Bell Drawing Club ever (Katie drew a very good Alan Greenspan a couple of weeks ago here). When he was done with his drawing he lifted it up, the four other members (three in the picture plus the one who took it) all gasped, then the man took out a lighter and lit the drawing on fire. It burned then disappeared. The man said "Thank you." and slowly walked out the door.

I am not sure if this really happened.

New York chapter of Taco Bell Drawing Club Official Meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 4-5:30pm at the Taco Bell on 14th Street just west of Union Square in commemoration of Mariah Carey's E=MC². That is a good title!

There will be a huge meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Taco Bell 14th Street West of Union Square from 4-5:30pm.

I am sorry I have been terrible posting regularly for this blog. I have been busy eating a lot. That is why tomorrow's meeting will be huge.

ha ha, wow.

Taco Bell Drawing Club Volume Three has been completed and is now available. This is the best Taco Bell Drawing Club Volume yet.

The new Volume will be available in person at this week's Manhattan meeting. If you live in other places please let me know your address (send email to art@jasonpolan.com). I will not be able to get to Taco Bell until about 5p. Of course, go and draw whenever you would like, but I will be there with the new books from about 5-6:30p Wednesday 14th Street West of Union Square Taco Bell.

There has been a limited "8.3% color" edition produced to commemerate the third issue, and to showcase the beautiful work of Nicholas Vandermolen (also the cover artist). If you would like to purchase one of these, good luck (ebay?) they are limited to 6.



That ebay line was a joke. The 8.3%'s are $100? This money will go right back into the club (literally? Tacos or other things: art supplies, mail, field trips, etc). The regular supreme full black and white edtions are free to members and also, $100 to non-members.

Taco Bell Drawing Club member Steven Katz and two other "people" (non-members) made an outstanding animation that is available to watch right here. I thought the drawing and the writing and the sound editing were terrific, especially for the life like James William Van Der Beek, Jr. character.

Purple!?!

After purchasing my chicken grilled stuffed burrito minus the baja and fiesta sauce I turned to the little packets of border sauce and was jolted/surprised/flummoxed (I cannot think of the right word here so combine the three of these and multiply intensity by five) to see purple sauce packets. The HOT ones were the ones that were purple. The other two kinds were the same (yellow and red, respectively). I noticed that the message on all of the Hot ones was the same: DirectDaniella.com Obviously I ran home to check this out. It turns out, if you haven't already looked yourself, that this is a site where you "direct" a photo shoot with a swimsuit model. yawn, boring. There was one good part though where you got to choose what she does, obviously the right answer is "rock out on bongos".

In more exciting news, Taco Bell Drawing Club, the New York Chapter, will be holding our regular hours this Wednesday, March 5 at the usual, just west of Union Square on 14th Street, Taco Bell from 4-5:30pm.

Also, I will be holding special meetings of Taco Bell Drawing Club in Michigan the following week. I will not be at the usual Wednesday meeting on March 12th on 14th Street. That does not mean it is not happening. If you would like to go and draw please do so, and have fun. Let me know if anyone is going to meetings and needs a membership card. I will mail it out.

In most important news, Taco Bell Drawing Club Super-Hero Level member Nicholas A. Vandermolen was recently featured here. The only complaint I have is, that article is not long enough. I wanted more.

Nicholas A. Vandermolen has just been promoted to the Super-Hero Level of Taco Bell Drawing Club. He is only the fourth member to do this. The other three of you know who you are. If you don't, you are Jamie, Jake, and Mara.

There are four levels of membership to Taco Bell Drawing Club:

1. Non-Member
People that are not in Taco Bell Drawing Club
2. Card Carrying Member
People that are in Taco Bell Drawing Club
3. Hall of Fame Member
People that are in Taco Bell Drawing Club and have continually shown outstanding skills and dedication to the club and have improved their community

People that are in Taco Bell Drawing Club and strive to enrich the club. They have meetings by themselves. They also fight crime.

We had an excellent meeting of the New York chapter of Taco Bell Drawing Club today.

There are new items at Taco Bell! They are called Fiesta Platters. I have not tried them yet! Eventhough the guy working at the register says that they have had them for "about a month" I know that they are less than one week old! THIS IS BIG NEWS.
